How can I safely transport my unit in a car or van?
- Always fulfill all the fundamental requirements for safe transport (e.g. the load must be secured in such a way that it cannot, or can only slightly, change its position during transport)
- In general, Instagrid ONE should be set to transport mode, which is done by moving the switch to the far-left position when viewing the front of the device. An exception to this is explained in the question “Can I use or charge the unit while driving”
- Depending on the type of transport, the unit must be labelled accordingly.
- Pure supply transport: For example, a logistics company transporting the unit from your company to another location, or you personally driving the unit to a job-site without intending to use it there yourself (i.e., for pure shipping purposes). If the transport mode is activated, you will comply with SV188, which requires a UN 3480 label on the outer packaging of the unit. The aluminium housing of the unit itself can serve as the outer packaging, or alternatively, the unit can be placed inside the original shipping carton, which already has the required label applied.
- Transport under ADR 1.1.3.1c.: If the unit is transported as part of a company’s ancillary or supporting activity to its main business (such as deliveries to or returns from construction or civil engineering sites, or for repair and maintenance work), no special labelling or packaging is required.

Can I use or charge the unit while driving?
-
If the following criteria are fulfilled, you can use or charge Instagrid ONE while driving:
- The type of transport must be a carriage undertaken by a company which is ancillary /supporting to their main activity, such as deliveries to or returns from construction or civil engineering sites, or for repair and maintenance work. This is considered transport according to ADR 1.1.3.1c.
- ADR 1.1.3.1c. does not regulate the use or charging of products like Instagrid ONE while driving. Therefore, there are no objections, and it is already common practice to use or charge batteries during transport. Additionally, always fulfill all the fundamental requirements for safe transport (e.g. the load must be secured in such a way that it cannot, or can only slightly, change its position during transport)
- You cannot use or charge Instagrid ONE, if the transport is a pure supply process. This type of transport is not considered transport according to ADR 1.1.3.1c. In this case Instagrid ONE must be in transport mode (rotating switch at the padlock symbol). For example: a logistics company transporting the unit from your company to another location, or you personally driving the unit to a job-site without intending to work there yourself = this is considered a pure supply transport.
